What is the Spinal Decompression System (DRX 9000C)?

DRX-9000 spinal decompression therapy is a non-surgical treatment method used in patients with lumbar or cervical hernia. The scientific studies behind the decompression system were essentially inspired by space programs. In NASA space research, it was observed that the pressure on the spine of astronauts decreased, the disc gaps widened and the back pain was relieved in the non-gravity environment. DRX-9000 decompression device, developed based on this experience, has been used in the treatment of hernia without surgery. The device is used in many countries around the world, especially in America.

How does DRX 9000 treatment work?

The DRX 9000 device works by extending the affected and narrowed disc space by widening the gap between the upper and lower vertebra. When the distance between the vertebrae widen, the negative pressure creates a vacuum effect, allowing the protruding disc to enter. With the negative pressure removing the pressure, healing begins in the damaged disc. The fluid, oxygen and nutrients in the disc contribute to the healing of tissue damage. With the decrease of the pressure between the vertebrae, the hernia retracts backwards, the nerve under pressure relaxes.

What are the advantages of DRX treatment?

DRX-9000 device provides a more effective treatment by reducing the intradiscal pressure to negative values with adjustable angles and logarithmic targeting. It works to provide maximum effect on the affected disc. In classical traction devices, since the whole spine is pulled with the same load, the protective mechanisms of the body are activated and spinal muscles contract. This can also reduce the treatment effect. In addition, it may cause opening of vertebral spaces in normal discs. In the DRX-9000 system, the body’s protection mechanisms are not stimulated, since an increasingly controlled pull with a logarithmic curve is applied to the vertebral space on the affected disc. Thus, an effective negative pressure is created in the targeted damaged discs. In this way, it can be used safely in advanced lumbar or cervical hernia cases where the use of conventional traction devices is risky.

Who can receive DRX treatment?

  • Lumbar hernias
  • Neck hernias
  • Sciatica pains
  • Spinal canal stenosis
  • Facet (spinal joint) pain
  • Spinal calcifications (degeneration)
  • Patients with unsuccessful lumbar hernia surgery over 6 months

When DRX 9000 treatment can not be applied?

DRX treatment is not applied in cases such as spinal fractures, severe bone resorption, sequestrated lumbar hernias (with a fragmentation in the spinal canal), spinal tumors, and inflammatory diseases of the spine. In addition, pregnant women cannot be treated.

What is the success rate of DRX treatment?

DRX-9000 treatment has a success rate of 85-95% in lumbar or cervical hernia patients who are close to the surgical stage. Success lasts for a lifetime with physician and patient cooperation, regular exercises and improving lifestyle are recommended after the treatment.
